What we've done is hide the Windows 10 search and replaced it with the more powerful hidden "Search Everywhere" toolĪn update to my above post.

To fix the Windows 10 search do the following:ġ) Go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\ProgramsĢ) At the bottom there is a shortcut called "Search"ģ) Drag this Search shortcut (it looks like a magnifying glass) onto the bottom Taskbar and place it in the left-most position on the TaskbarĤ) Optional: right-click the existing "Search Windows" icon/bar in the Taskbar and choose Search > HiddenĪll done.

As you may know, the Windows 10 search is broken as it doesn't search all installed program names, as well as EXE filenames in shortcuts, EXEs on theĭesktop, etc. I've found a workaround to the Windows 10 search indexing problem that I'd like to share. Really looking for a fix from Microsoft, please.

Via Group Policy, this is not hard tweaking.įrom there on, search will keep showing the indexed. > You can change this value without going through regedit Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System exe listed in the those folders :Ĭ:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Ĭ:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programsīut then, I tured off UAC completly by changing a regedit val : I do not have a solution but can bring some clues :Īfter installing Windows 10 and set up all my stuff, Windows search returns me every.
